Tzarevo municipality is situated in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Bulgaria, 65 km south of the town of Bourgas. It's east border is the Black sea, the westerly border is the adjacent municipality of Malko Tarnovo, Turkey is on the south and Primorsko municipality is on the north. The sandy shores are the specific land recource, are used for the development of this area as a tourist destination. Sixteen sandy beaches with overall length of 9184m have been formed along the coast of the municipality, as the Tzarevo city itself is located over three lagoons.

The southernmost lagoon, right outside the city is known by locals as "Nestinarka".

The biggest and largest natural park in Bulgaria is here – “Strandzha”, where the very small and romantic inlets at the Black Sea coast, the forest hills of the Strandzha Mountain and the still water of the Cherna River combine in a unique way. This is the only one of its kind – at the foot of the mountain, where the unique heathen tradition is preserved – the Nestinari dances over a fire.
